I figured out the mac was having daisy chain issues. I was plugging my iPod into the second port on the back of the firewire drive for pass through. It did not like that and would just reject both as if they weren't there at all. Luckily even though my mac is old, I had two on board firewire connections. I plugged them in seperately and the magic insued. That is the reason to buy the biggest and best in computing gear when you picking out a new machine. If your lucky enough to have it last for a few years you should still be compliant with most the gear out there and have plenty of inputs. Same goes for TV's. My Dad knows what I'm talking about on that one - we had to retro fit his television setup with an outboard RCA patch panel to get all the stuff hooked up.

My mac at home is my primary music holding zone. Got a message the other day saying that my hard drive was full. So I brought home... Wait let me preface this with - I never have any trouble with my mac at home. Ok, that said... So, I brought home a firewire drive to move all my music to and free up the hard drive. Sounds like a simple plan. Plug the drive in. It shows up. I move all my music over to it. Easy. But, ever since then the firewire drive doesn't want to show up. I'll get it every once in a while on restarts but it acts flakey, especially when I dock my iPod. What gives man - all these years with no trouble - the firewire drive has disrupted the happy music land at my house.
