Motion Media Era

As the internet blooms more and more into interactive motion media my dreams for what this medium can be are finally getting closer. Taking a major leap into this atmosphere (that I've been thinking about since the very beginning of my foray into the web world) I have outfitted my production arsenal once again adding a Panasonic AG-HVX200 camera, External FireStore HD Recorder and a handsome suite of digital editing tools. Pretty much a walking broadcast studio and that is amazing to think that all of it is mobile. Pack up the gear, hit the road, lay it out and get to work - anywhere.

Digital publishing in this day and age is now so within reach that one individual can be a studio. Fully capable of producing incredible footage, design, motion sequences and everything that years ago would take an entire agency just to bankroll the operation. Well, those days are past and the future is open to anyone with the passion and drive to create. It really levels the playing field and puts the best idea on center stage. That is the way it should be. Expense should not determine placement or rank. I have always loved that about the internet as a living system that lets the best of the best percolate to the top - no matter where the project came from. If it is what people want to see (and share) then it lives on and gets to play out on the biggest stage we have.

I have always had a grand view of what the landscape is (or has been) and knew that one day the 'entry to broadcast' would be wide open. That is why I have chosen to stay with the web as my main focus, because you can see a future in which all the media delivered has a touchpoint with the net and that is a beautiful thing. Anyone, anywhere can make whatever they want and find an audience for it. That is powerful. You can be your own station and output whatever you choose.

This makes for a lot of ups and downs in quality and expression but that drives it all back down to the core idea. The core thought is what should be important and it always comes down to the idea, the execution of that thought and the way in which you choose to deliver it.

Create your world.
